Illness Prevention Suggestions

Below are the latest suggestions from the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM) regarding prevention and treatment of COVID illness.  These can be broadly applied to other viruses such as those that cause the common cold as well as influenza.  The IFM backs its recommendations with plenty of research.  

In order to boost immunity and improve your body's ability to fight off illness naturally, other very important recommendations include:  

- Eat healthy.  Brightly colored vegetables and fruits have even better immune-boosting ability than most supplements.  AVOID sugar and processed/junk food.

- Get enough sleep.  Don't let yourself get run down, as it weakens immune response.

- Get moderate, regular exercise.  It's a fantastic way to boost immunity, among its many other benefits.

- Reduce stress.  Chronic stress can negatively affect immune function.
